I love the subtle transitions and buildup in the beginning. The beat seems a little subdued. I also feel like the fat synth leads might benefit from a little more reverb. I like the clear lead that comes in around 2:15. I feel like there isn't much panning going on with the instruments, and I think adding that would help the mix a lot[EDIT: upon second listen I do hear some panning, forgive my untrained ears but I can hardly hear the kickdrum and I'm using studio headphones]. Overall decent composition with some nice melody thrown in. I feel a little more work on the mix and this song would be aces.

Thank you so much for your feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Stay tuned! I'll try to make something even better next time!

The composition is really good. It gives that boss fight feel that keeps me on the edge of my seat. I like when the guitar parts come in. Good transitions, good overall pace and transmits the emotion you're going for. Mix sounds muddy to me....is this not the final version? Like I feel certain instruments should stand out more. I was gonna say 4.5 because I'm not a fan of the mixing/mastering but screw it I'm more swayed by composition than production. 5 stars!

wobwobrob responds:

Yeah mix is wild haha. WIP

Cool composition! Great for being just bored haha. Can I Remix? I'm thinking of a few different variations.

GlaceonDash responds:

Yeah! Go ahead, I'm currently trying to see what I can do in many different genres

I don't know how to rate lofi sounds/chiptunes too well, but my initial thoughts are maybe add some more background textures to the main theme. Or bring the ones you have out more with the mix. I'd really like to play with the Midi file, I like the composition! I've done this with another artist. You would get full composition credit if I released it of course. It would be like a collab. Let me know. Here's what I did with GlaceonDash https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/1026985

Thank you so much for the offer! I'm going to think about it for a while and when I come up with a decision I'll write you back.

I love the synth textures. Gives me Final Fantasy IV vibes (the beginning). Nice melodic progression. I also create songs in 2-3 hours. Yours came out great! Totally getting FFIV vibes I don't know why. That's a compliment. Really quite a good track. Could use slightly more variation on the closing section, like another layer or change in the melody, but other than that, great!

Touhou inspired yes! I can imagine Demetori riffing this in a metal version. Great composition, definitely a lot of layers here and well-arranged. Love it

Negatives - Bass is too high
Positives -I like the atmospheric undertones
Observations - Sounds like an ambient vg piece
Recommendations - Lower the bass at the least, and it would be better
Considerations -Consider a countermelody to the bass in treble, maybe a muted lead synth
-Consider adding percussion

Simple, yet well-composed. As a musician I can hear in my head so many arrangements of what I'd do with this, in my opinion it has potential to become something really great. I love minimalistic simple tracks because you can do so much with them if you so choose to. If I only had your midi file :) of course I'd give you all credit for the composition. If you'd care for a collab on this. 5/5 because I like the composition and I vibe with it. A lot of my tracks start with something simple like this.

Cheers

GlaceonDash responds:

I could hand you the project file! I unfortunately don't use a program such as FL studio, I use LMMS. So I don't know how that would work. DM me if you want a midi file though!

I like how it starts off ambient then goes into something slightly sinister. Good composition, good production quality, I like the percussion elements as well. very chill, I could have that first section on repeat for quite awhile. nice work

supervoltage responds:

Thank you so much for your response and I'm very glad that you enjoyed it!

I value composition above all, so you got my 4.5. very engaging piece, has an adventurous feel to it. Of course everything can be improved. I think you may want to revisit the mix in the future, I can't identify the background instrument so that tells me the mix is a little muddy and could be cleaned up a bit. Maybe more EQ adjustments. I think some good reverb would do this mix more justice as well, especially on the piano and background instrument. Good track overall though. nice.

vioyoyo responds:

Thanks! I do plan on revisiting this in the future, so thanks a lot for your input! The background instrument I think you're talking about is the harp, and yeah, it does sound very muddy. I'll take your advice for when I eventually remaster this. Thanks a lot!
